Export
CV Rags Limited invloves in the export of clothings, bags and shoes from British homes, charities and public authorities. The collected materials are processed in a clean and safe environment before being shipped out to their final destinations. When necessary, fumigation is conducted on the clothings to ensure that the new users have high quality clothes, shoes and bags in the Third World, where they are in high supply.
These clothings, shoes and bags are offered at a very affordable price in the receiving countries, where they are in a very high demand. They are stacked in bales, which are shipped in containers, to  different Third World destinations, such as Pakistan, India, China, Nigeria, Togo,Benin Reublic and Ghana, to mention but a few.
This activity not only helps to ease the severe pressure on British landfills, but also helps to create a new form of lucrative industry in which people in the poorest parts of the world have been offered a new way of ensuring sustainable development, in an otherwise, very depressing and austere economic environment.

Cash For Schools

Smile Aim Of Scheme

Raise Awareness about Textile Recycling

increase Recycling Rates, helping the environment and local authorities, and raise valuable school funds.

SmileHow It Works

All you and the pupils have to do is bring in bags of unwanted clothing, shoes, bags and toys.

We will pick the bags up on an agreed date and time, weigh them and pay the school by the kilo.

Educational Responsibilities
As waste managers in the community, we are obliged to educate the community on best ways to go about their lives, as this has a direct effect on the immediate environment. We know the impact of this, and feel obliged to impart on the local communities the best and the most environmentally friendly ways of living their lives.
We conduct seminars in the communinities and schools, during which we try to 'sell' our ideas to them.We try to discourage them from dumping their unwanted clothings and shoes in bin, as this leads  should be the last environmental option.
We tell them about carbon foot printing and how the carbon we burn up, comes back as a ghost to hunt us.
We explain the concept of waste hierachy to them and how , landfill is the least desirable option and the most deadly to the environment.
We give them the raw statistics. We feel that when they know that out of about 1,850, 000 tonnes of textiles we buy each year, in the UK, that 1,165,000 tonnes are dumped on landfills. This figures shows how we waste our resources buying clothes, only to dump them.
We hope to be able to effect a change in our community before long.

Sourcing, Sorting and Grading

We are proud to have workers, who are knowledgeable in the local market systems in various destination countries. Our staff have a wealth of knoledge in the areas of sourcing, sorting and grading textile products, shoes and bags.
We know the various avenues used to source the unwanted clothes, shoes, bags and other textile materials. We have about seven trucks used for these puposes.
Once we receive the materials, we move on to the next step of sorting them according to kinds.Once they are sorted out according to their kinds, the next step in the procedure, is to grade them according to their quality.
It is only the very best qualities that we export to the receiving countries.

The good quality ones are piled up in bales, which are then shipped in containers, to various countries in the Third World.
The not too good ones are shipped to factories, where they are used as raw materials for the production of other materials. It is our policy that nothing is sent to landfills from C.V. Rags.

How You can Help

There are so many ways you can contribute to the work we do.Firstly, you can donate your unwanted clothes, shoes and bags to us, either by calling us for a pick up.You can also drop of any items to our factory.

To find out the various ways you can be of help to our cause, please don not hesitate to call or email us and we will be very delighted to be of assistance to you.
As there is an alarming increase in the number of textiles ending up in landfills in the UK, we would be very happy to hear from you, if you have any way of contributing to our cause.
Each year, Britain buy about 1,850,000 tonnes of textiles, out of which 1,165,000 tonnes are dumped in landfills. Out of this figure, only 300,000 tonnes are re-used. Now, the major question is, how do we account for about 385,000 tonnes of textile still within our premises, and probably hanging in a wardrobe, or in the attic, unused?
Your donations to us will go a long way in solving the problem of easing the pressure on landfills and also help clear out the waste in your premises.Ultimately, it would help provide a means of livelihood to an impoversished and underdeveloped economy.

Our Aims and Objectives

Our major major aims and objectives are as follows:

Reaching out to the Public:

We do this through our educational activities, like seminars, training workshops and school outreaches. We have been able to penetrate our local community, sold our ideas to them and help them to divert textiles from the waste stream.

Diversion of Textiles from the Waste Stream:

Our work in the communities have helped us divert millions of tonnes of textiles from the waste stream. We have managed to lend a new lease of life to millions of tonnes of textiles, shoes and bags that would have ended up in landfills. We rely on the general public to be able to achieve this task.

Retrieval of Wastes from the Waste Stream:

The expertise of our strategic waste managers, business managers and our entire staff have all assisted us in this huge task of recycling used clothes, shoes and bags from the waste streams.Their skillfulness has also helped us to put to good use the recyclables we gather over the years.

Sourcing, Sorting and Grading:

It is one of our objectives to source, sort and grade every single cloth, shoe and bag that comes to us. We  employ years of expereince in the industry to get the most economically viable sources of the recyclables, sort them out in our facilities in Glasgow and grade them accordingly. It is our company policy not to export substandard materials, and that being the case, we ensure that we provide very meticulous screening procedures and after that, we also provide very high standard of treatment such as fumigation, to ensure that we break any pathways to the spread of diseases.
