C.V. Rags is a social enterprise locatd in the heartland of Glasgow, conerned with the management of textile waste in the community and also in the export of these clothing and textile materials to the Third World, where they are needed. The business has been growing from strength to strength for over 20 years now. It is the brain child of Mr.Chuks Ogbu, a renowned international business man with years of expereince working with communities. At our facilities in Glasgow, we process the textile materials as they come in, and grade them according to their qualities. The top grade materials are stacked in bales and exported to different countries, where they are given a new lease of life. The less superior ones are taken to factories where they are used as raw materials for matress making and the like. We aspire to divert waste clothing from ending up in landfills.We know the consequences of over burdening the landfills and try as much as possible from using the landfill option as a means of managing our wastes. As a responsible company and as part of our social responsibilities, we endeavour to conduct seminars and talks in the community, from time to time.During these talks, key speakers are selected from the waste management industry and they educate people on the need to recycle their unwanted testiles, instead of dumping them in the bin, on an ill-fated journey to landfills. We also encourage the people to embark upon kerbside recycling, in which residents leave out the items they don't need on their kerbs, for them to be picked up and put back to use. |
